A sneak peak from my bride that got married at Claridge’s a few weeks back. Just got some gorgeous pics from Mark Seymour Photography. Check out the gorgeous do’s from Cassandra Rizzuto. Such a gorgeous bride!!
The Lovers of Valdaro.
Believed to be no older than twenty years of age when death occurred.
Over 5,000 years old.
Locked in an eternal embrace.
Tragically, their story is unknown.
Ironically, they were found in the city of Mantua. In Italy.
The city Shakespeare chose to set the story of Romeo & Juliet.

A vintage Maybelline ad from the 1920s.
How gorgeous is the makeup ad from the 20’s. I love the simplicity of it all (no photoshop and lash inserts here!)
So excited to see this!!!!
One day to go until opening and our LA Boutique is almost ready for business.
Very excited to see three looks of mine published in the Dec/Jan 2012 issue of Wedding Magazine - The Ultimate Hair & Beauty Guide.

A few weeks back I received a phone call from Penny at Tigerlily Weddings telling me about this gorgeous launch party she was organising for Parallel Venues new venue Fetcham Park. When I heard about all the talented people involved in the launch, I couldn’t help but say yes to her request of doing makeup for the catwalk show at this amazing launch party.

The theme for the catwalk show was “The Sirens Collection” and let me tell you, it was stunning. There were two looks for the sirens, one dark, the other light - I was lucky enough to do one of each looks. The whole feel of the makeup was sexy and mysterious, which complimented the hair Leo Bancroft and his team created for my two models Emily and Gemma (who also happened to be the winner of Australia’s Next Top Model in season 1!!). Doing makeup on these gorgeous ladies was not hard, they both had stunning features and gorgeous skin. After the show a few people were asking me for tips on recreating the makeup, so I thought what better place than here on my blog!

Radiant and glowing skin were key factors to The Siren look, to prep my model’s skin I used Dr. Lewinn’s Instant Beauty Radiance Booster. I am a huge fan of this miracle cream, which really gives the skin a gorgeous glow and deep hydration. I then airbrushed both models with Temptu S/B for their foundation, contour, and blush which gave a gorgeous dewy finish. I highlighted their features (brow bone, bridge of nose cheek bones) with Jemma Kidd Dewy Glow Radiance Creme in Rose Gold, which is so pretty and cannot recommend enough!

For Emily, the Light Siren, I blended soft silver and taupe tones on her lid and added touches of MAC Pigment in Frozen White to the inner corners to really make the eyes pop. I also used MAC Pro Glitter to highlight just under the brow and inner corner of the eyes. The look was topped off with gorgeous Shu Uemura Dazzling Diamonte False Eyelashes, which are perfect for the holiday season!

For Gemma, the Dark Siren, I used MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack all over the lower lid and blended into the socket, I then deepend the color with MAC Carbon Eyeshadow all over the lids and around the eyes to create a smokey effect. In the socket and bottom lash line I used MAC Sketch Eyeshadow to warm up the look and bring out the eyes. For an added pop, I added MAC Copper Sparkle Pigment to the inner corners of the eyes and added some false eyelashes. On the lips I used Smashbox Cosmetics Lip Enhancing Gloss in Underexposed which gave a gorgeous, sultry lip that works so well with the strong, smoldering eyes.

My models both had the most insanely gorgeous dresses on the evening, I am still lusting after the black Siren Mae dress by Suzanne Neville that Gemma wore, with it’s detail and fitted bodice! How perfect was the floral/crystal skull that Bloomingayles created to be accompanied by this dress?!?! I seriously want one in hot pink!

I think I may need to head over to Miss Bush Bridal to see Emma and swoon over all her dresses that were showcased at the event! Such gorgeous dresses from some of the UK’s best designers, I seriously loved them all! Maybe we could open a Miss Bush in LA?? ; )

I am very proud to have had my work showcased with such talented people and am honoured to have been asked to be a part of this wonderful event launching this fantastic venue. It was so nice to see old friends and meet friends from Twitter finally in person!

Lastly a huge thank you to all the photographers who kindly shared their images with me for this blog post, I sincerely appreciate it!

I am really big on education and learning, as an artist I constantly attend trade shows and classes to keep my skills current. I believe that everyone should also have an opportunity to learn makeup in a relaxed, non-retail environment.
Education is a big part of my career, I love sharing my knowledge and passion for makeup and beauty with my clients. I do receive many inquiries for teaching from makeup artists, students, and beauty enthusiasts which inspired me to write this blog post.
I currently have a few options for those interested in learning with me:
Tutoring: One-to-One private tutoring on subjects such as HD Makeup, Airbrush, Ethnic Beauty, Male Grooming, Bridal Makeup, Etc.
Lessons: For individuals or groups wanting to learn how to do their own makeup or update their current look. A fun, non-biased/non-retail approach in learning how to do your own makeup. Lessons can be arranged for individuals, groups, and even full day classes with escorted shopping trips.
I invite you to contact me with your inquiries at mariam@mariamjensen.com for more information. Lessons make great gifts, too!
OMG, I want to be a 2.55 for Halloween!
This is, without a doubt, the cutest Halloween costume I’ve EVER seen. Brilliant.
Was very excited to get a phone call from my friend Mariano to help him with hair styling for the Whistles Trunk Show at The Savoy in September. The hair was down with loose waves which complimented the natural makeup and gorgeous collection. It was a different experience not doing makeup at all, but I enjoyed using the skills I learnt in my hair course at London College of Fashion last year. I am now really looking forward to doing a second hair course at the Jemma Kidd Makeup School next month.

Here is a great blog post with some more details and the Whistles PR Facebook gallery including the below of me in action.

Was published today in Bella Magazine with the following tip:
Deep hydration is the key to a brighter and more radiant appearance. “I recommend LeWinn’s Trip Action Day Defence, £51 (www.drlewinns.co.uk). This cross between a cosmetic and a medicine is full of protective extracts. And the molecules are small enough to deliver high doses of hydration to the skin’s deepest layer.”

Was very happy to see that Perfect Wedding used me for their Expert Tip in the November 2011 issue. Picture from Snow White Shoot with Alex Beadon (Photography) and Hepburn Collection (Hair).
